The North Kensington Recovery Programme provides dedicated health and wellbeing support for people affected by the Grenfell tragedy, including mental health care, physical health support, and bereavement and family services. We remain fully committed to supporting survivors, the bereaved, and communities affected. As needs have changed, we have worked to shape future support so it is sustainable, community-led, and based on what people have told us they need.

Our approach: Community‑led recovery

We strengthened our Community-Led Recovery approach, using what we heard from local residents to guide how services are designed and decisions are made. Future services will be community-led, personalised, Grenfell-specific, and based in neighbourhoods. Updates will continue to be shared via email, the insight bulletin, and www.grenfell.nhs.uk.

What we engaged on (wellbeing services)

We undertook engagement between February and May 2026 on wellbeing support services. These services promote wellbeing, strengthen local connections, and help people build confidence and tools to manage their own health and that of their families. We wanted to work with local people to understand:

  1. Checking what we have heard on needs: We reviewed what we learnt about wellbeing support needs to make sure these insights are still accurate and relevant.
  2. Understanding helpful support and access: We explored which types of wellbeing support and activities were most helpful, and how people could most easily use them.
  3. Explored how best to organise the distribution of resources in the future: We worked with survivor and bereaved‑led organisations  on the principles that should underpin the selection of the organisation that will take responsibility for the distribution of the funding.

Who we spoke to:

  •  Survivors and bereaved
  • Grenfell‑affected residents, including children and young people
  • Survivor and bereaved‑led organisations
  • Targeted VCFS organisations
  • Targeted health and social care workforce

Engagement findings and next steps

The engagement was undertaken in two phases; Kensington & Chelsea Social Council (KCSC) worked closely with local VCFS organisations to engage Grenfell affected communities and the health and social care workforce.

The second phase, NHS West and North London ICB, North Kensington Recovery Programme worked with survivor and bereaved organisations and survivors and bereaved directly to understand their wellbeing needs.

Grenfell affected communities engagement

Thank you to KCSC and everyone who participated in the engagement. We have published the full Grenfell affected communities report delivered by KCSC alongside the NHS response to this report, which explains how these insights will inform future wellbeing support services.

Survivor and Bereaved engagement

A specific engagement report focused on survivor and bereaved communities will follow shortly.

Future funding opportunity

Building on this engagement, we will shortly be launching a new funding opportunity for an organisation or group to take the role of Wellbeing Support Lead.

The current funding available is £300,000 per year from 2026 to 2029.

This Wellbeing Support Lead will be responsible for coordinating and funding community-based wellbeing services, working in partnership with local organisations and residents to ensure support is delivered with, by and for Grenfell-affected communities.

Further details on how to apply will be shared on this page soon.
