Ninth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire

Published on: Friday 12 June 2026

As we approach the ninth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire on Sunday 14 June 2026, NHS West and North London, together with our partners across hospitals, general practice, emotional wellbeing services and community care, reaffirm our commitment to supporting bereaved families, survivors and the wider community.

We recognise that this period may be especially difficult for many local residents. NHS services continue to be available for anyone whose health or wellbeing has been affected by Grenfell.

Jennifer Roye, Chief Nurse Officer for NHS West and North London  said:

“As we mark the ninth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, we continue to stand alongside bereaved families, survivors and the wider North Kensington community.

“We recognise the lasting impact Grenfell has had on local residents’ lives and wellbeing. And we remain committed to listening, learning and working in partnership with the community to provide compassionate, accessible and culturally appropriate support now and into the future.”

Looking ahead, we remain committed to providing high-quality, accessible care that is shaped by the experiences, voices and needs of the community, and delivered in close partnership with local residents and organisations.

Grenfell-specific services will continue, alongside the careful taking down of Grenfell Tower. During this time, we also have an important opportunity to work together to shape future support that is sustainable, equitable and informed by the lessons learned from Grenfell. Our aim is to ensure that support continues for those directly affected, while also benefiting the wider North Kensington community in the longer term.

We are building on what we have heard from communities across North Kensington and continuing to work closely with bereaved families, survivors, residents, and voluntary and community organisations to develop a more personalised, community-led approach to recovery.

We will create a range of conversation opportunities for bereaved people, survivors, the wider North Kensington community and partner organisations, to share what matters to them and inform health and wellbeing services for the future. These conversations will also help to ensure that the lessons, truths and wisdom from the past nine years are embedded across the NHS, forming a legacy that reflects the community’s calls for safety, justice and meaningful change.

This means offering different ways to take part so people can choose what feels most comfortable and safe. We will make sure these options are clearly communicated.

We continue to monitor Grenfell population health in partnership with the local authority’s Public Health team and regularly share our findings. We have already begun discussing health data and insights through community conversations, and further engagement opportunities are planned. For further information, please visit www.grenfell.nhs.uk
