There are a range is self-care services available to help the local residents of North Kensington.

Community Living Well Self Care Services 2018/19

Unwind Sessions

In partnership with Community Massage London, SMART is offering therapies to help you relax and unwind. There are centre-based therapy sessions, and a limited number of home-based sessions. Therapies offered include Indian head massage, reflexology, reiki and seated massage.

Who can use the service
People over 18 registered with a GP in Kensington & Chelsea, Queens Park or Paddington areas that require mental health support.

Multilingual emotional and practical 1:1 support service

A mother tongue service offered in Arabic, Bangla, Somali and Farsi to provide emotional support (a non-judgemental space to talk through problems) and help to access other longer term services that will enhance emotional wellbeing.

Who can use the service
People not fluent in English, who face additional difficulties in accessing services by themselves.

“Like The Old Days” Club for OLDER AFRICAN MEN

The “Like the Old Days” Club meets fortnightly and brings older African men together to enjoy traditional hot meals in each others company; access information, and to share experiences. The club also supports members through telephone support, outreach, days out and drop in sessions.

Who can use the service
Older African and other BME men aged 50 and above, who live in or around Kensington and Chelsea.

A mindfulness group for older people that gives service users the tools to re-connect with the present moment, and be more in control of their health and wellbeing.

Who can use the service
Older people aged 55+ living in Kensington and Chelsea who would like to take control of their mental health and wellbeing.

Better Life Befriending

This new family befriending programme will focus on helping the parents of our children heal, build friendships and develop confidence to enable them to pursue their life goals through 1-2 hour weekly befriending sessions, often using activities such as yoga, art gallery or volunteering as a platform.

Who can use the service
Parents who are struggling because of mental health problems, are survivors of domestic violence and other related problems.

Volunteering on Prescription

A client-led programme developing the skills, knowledge and confidence of 40 volunteers with stable mental health needs, enabling them to exercise more control over their health and wellbeing and support others to do the same. A wide range of activities will be co-designed and co-delivered by the volunteers.

Who can use the service
People who have a stable mental health condition and are supported in primary care.

Queens Park Community Theatre

A weekly mental health community theatre project, with a focus on a different aspect of mental health each quarter. The project supports people to build their confidence and reflect on ways they can manage and take action on their mental health, with the group doing four performances over the year.

Who can use the service
People with mental health conditions or those wanting to take control of their mental health and wellbeing and are interested in the arts.
